RTX4090 Minecraft Application Scenario
The primary use case is gaming, with a strong focus on RTX4090 Minecraft performance. Testing began with vanilla Minecraft and progressed to more demanding scenarios such as shader-based rendering. It covered FPS, GPU performance, CPU behavior, RAM usage, VRAM usage, temperature, gameplay responsiveness, chunk loading and overall smoothness where the relevant data is available. The evaluation covers both baseline and more demanding Minecraft scenarios to give a broader view of system performance and of how the configuration handles common gaming workloads.
- Java Edition 26.3: vanilla Minecraft
- Java Edition 1.20.1: modded Minecraft with Embeddium + Distant Horizons + shaders
- Graphics: vanilla, shaders at High settings, and Embeddium + Distant Horizons at high / extended render distance
- Resolution: 1920 × 1080 (1080p)
- Render distance: 16 chunks for baseline testing, with significantly higher distances tested using Distant Horizons
- Workload: normal gameplay, shader performance, modded Minecraft and extended render distance
Deployment Process
The server was accessed through the provided Windows environment and prepared for the RTX4090 Minecraft tests. I configured the environment for Minecraft Java Edition and set up the required client, mods, shaders and testing settings. The system was tested using the stock Windows environment without additional Windows performance optimizations or system-level tweaks, so the results represent the out-of-the-box performance of the RTX4090 Minecraft server. During gameplay the system was monitored for CPU, GPU, VRAM and RAM utilization, along with FPS, temperature, chunk loading, terrain rendering and responsiveness.
Performance Review
Overall performance was evaluated across standard vanilla Minecraft gameplay and a significantly more demanding modded configuration. The vanilla test provided the baseline, while the second test combined Embeddium, shaders and Distant Horizons to create a substantially heavier rendering workload with extended terrain visibility. Because the stock Windows environment had no additional optimization, the results represent out-of-the-box performance.
Network Performance on the RTX 4090 Minecraft Server
Network performance was evaluated from Pakistan. The measured latency to the tested US location was approximately 196 ms through the RDP connection with ExitLag enabled, using TCP through the US Ashburn05 ExitLag server. In the dedicated Remote Desktop test, latency was approximately 203 ms over the same route. ExitLag was used only as part of the connection testing and was not required to use or play Minecraft on the tested environment.
Internet Speed
| Metric | Result |
|---|---|
| Download | 92.13 Mbps |
| Upload | 94.00 Mbps |
| Advertised Connection | 100 Mbps |
| Speedtest Ping | 1 ms |
The 92.13 Mbps download and 94.00 Mbps upload were close to the advertised 100 Mbps capacity, and the 1 ms speed-test ping indicates a very low-latency connection within the tested network environment. The bandwidth was sufficient for RTX 4090 Minecraft gaming, remote desktop usage, file management and general creator workflows. For frequent transfers of large games, recordings, assets or project files, a higher-bandwidth connection could provide faster transfer times.

Latency Assessment
The ~196–203 ms latency primarily reflects the geographical distance and network routing between Pakistan and the US server region, not the server bandwidth. The 1 ms speed-test ping is the latency from the server environment to the selected speed-test server and should not be read as the latency from Pakistan. Actual latency will vary with your location, ISP routing, network conditions and selected server region. Users closer to the server region can expect significantly lower remote-access and gaming latency.
Parsec Connection and Remote RTX 4090 Minecraft Gaming Experience
For gaming-optimized remote access I tested Parsec, a remote desktop application designed for interactive use and gaming. Instead of relying only on traditional Remote Desktop, Parsec connected to the Windows environment so I could play RTX 4090 Minecraft through a gaming-focused connection. The test ran from Pakistan and focused on remote gameplay responsiveness, input responsiveness, visual streaming quality, connection stability, overall gaming experience and remote interaction latency.
Remote gaming path: RTX 4090 server → Parsec → local PC → Minecraft, tested from Pakistan. Focus: remote gaming experience and responsiveness.
| Test Parameter | Detail |
|---|---|
| Connection Method | Parsec |
| Workload | Minecraft |
| Purpose | Remote gaming / cloud PC access |
| Location | Pakistan |
The connection experience shown here represents the testing environment in Pakistan and can vary significantly with the user location, ISP, network conditions and selected server region.
Parsec provides a gaming-oriented way to access the RTX4090 Minecraft machine compared with a traditional Windows Remote Desktop workflow. The displayed Parsec connection latency was approximately 254.8 ms. Despite the higher latency, Parsec is a practical way to remotely access and interact with the RTX 4090 gaming environment, and responsiveness varies with routing, ISP performance and location.
Parsec latency should not be interpreted as the Minecraft server in-game ping. It represents the latency of the remote desktop / game-streaming connection.
| Connection Method | Measured Latency | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| RDP + ExitLag | 203 ms | Remote desktop testing |
| Parsec | 254.8 ms | Remote gaming / desktop streaming |
| Speed Test | 1 ms | Server environment → selected speed-test server |
The Parsec test shows the practical remote-access experience of the RTX 4090 system from a geographically distant location. For users located closer to the server region, lower latency and improved responsiveness would be expected.

RTX 4090 Minecraft Testing Methodology
Testing was performed on the provided Windows environment using real-world Minecraft gameplay rather than synthetic benchmarks, in its stock Windows configuration. Minecraft was accessed remotely using Parsec. The RTX4090 Minecraft system was evaluated across vanilla gameplay, shader-enhanced rendering, extended-distance LOD rendering, large-scale TNT explosions and world / chunk loading.

Monitoring and Measurement Tools
Performance was monitored with Kryptex, MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS), the Minecraft performance overlay, Windows Task Manager and Parsec for remote access. Recorded measurements included FPS, frame time, CPU utilization, temperature and frequency, GPU utilization and temperature, dedicated VRAM and total GPU memory, system and Minecraft RAM usage, world / chunk loading behavior and remote connection latency. Screenshots were captured throughout as visual evidence.
Additional Stress Testing and Evidence
Beyond standard gameplay, the 5,000+ TNT explosion evaluated a concentrated explosion and block-processing workload, Distant Horizons evaluated extended terrain rendering and large visible world distances, and the world-loading test evaluated terrain processing responsiveness. Screenshots document Java Edition 26.3 vanilla at a 16-chunk render distance, Java Edition 1.20.1, Complementary Reimagined at High settings, Embeddium + Distant Horizons, extended LOD terrain, TNT stress testing, world and chunk loading, FPS and frame-time readings from the Minecraft overlay, CPU utilization, frequency and temperature in Task Manager, RTX 4090 utilization, VRAM and temperature, 256 GB memory utilization and remote gaming through Parsec.
Important measurement note: the FPS figures are captured observations from the supplied screenshots, not a formal RTX 4090 benchmark average, 1% low or complete-session average. They are point-in-time readings from specific scenarios, so the report says "captured FPS," "observed FPS" and "approximately." The workloads should not be compared directly as if they were identical benchmarks, because vanilla, shaders, Distant Horizons LOD, TNT and world loading stress the CPU, GPU, memory and Minecraft engine differently.
Test 1: Vanilla RTX 4090 Minecraft Performance (Java Edition 26.3)
The first RTX 4090 Minecraft test used Minecraft Java Edition 26.3 in a vanilla configuration with no shaders or performance mods, a 16-chunk render distance and 1920 × 1080 resolution. It sets the baseline for RTX 4090 performance on the configuration, using the system essentially as provided. Captured overlay readings were approximately 526, 475, 548 and 452 FPS, so the RTX4090 Minecraft setup stayed above 450 FPS in these captures (352 FPS in the video-settings capture). Exact FPS varies with player position, loaded terrain, camera direction and chunk generation, so treat the values as observed measurements rather than a guaranteed figure.
| Setting | Recorded Configuration |
|---|---|
| Game | Minecraft Java Edition 26.3 |
| Graphics | Vanilla Minecraft |
| Shaders | Disabled |
| Render Distance | 16 chunks |
| Resolution | 1920 × 1080 |
| Workload | Normal Minecraft gameplay |
| System State | Stock Windows configuration |
| Remote Gaming | Parsec |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 |
| Dedicated VRAM | 24 GB |
CPU Performance
The system runs two Intel Xeon E5-2697 v4 processors (36 physical cores, 72 logical processors). Task Manager showed approximately 3% overall CPU utilization at about 3.11 GHz, while the Minecraft overlay showed 4–12% CPU across the captures. This reflects the vanilla configuration only and is not a measure of maximum CPU performance under heavy modding or shaders.
| Metric | Recorded Result |
|---|---|
| CPU | Intel Xeon E5-2697 v4 @ 2.30 GHz |
| Sockets | 2 |
| Cores | 36 |

| CPU Utilization | ~3% |
| Current CPU Speed | ~3.11 GHz |
| Base CPU Speed | 2.30 GHz |
| Virtualization | Enabled |
| L1 Cache | 2.2 MB |
| L2 Cache | 9.0 MB |
| L3 Cache | 90.0 MB |

Memory Performance
Task Manager reported 256 GB of installed RAM, with about 14 GB in use (~5%) and approximately 242 GB available. The overlay showed Minecraft using 11.4–14.5 GB. That headroom suits browsers, communication software, recording tools and launchers running beside RTX4090 Minecraft. No memory-related stability issues were observed, though this is not a measure of requirements for heavily modded Minecraft.
| Metric | Recorded Result |
|---|---|
| Installed RAM | 256 GB |
| Memory Usage | ~14 GB / 256 GB (~5%) |
| Available Memory | ~242 GB |
| Memory Speed | 2133 MHz |
| Memory Slots Used | 8 of 16 (DIMM) |
| Committed Memory | 16 / 272 GB |
| Cached Memory | 44.6 GB |
| Paged Pool | 1.4 GB |
| Non-paged Pool | 1.2 GB |

GPU Performance, VRAM and Temperature
Windows reported approximately 11% GPU utilization at 31°C, while the Minecraft overlay showed 17–20% and 31–32°C. The difference is expected because the overlay and Task Manager calculate utilization differently. The RTX 4090 used about 0.9 GB of its 24 GB dedicated VRAM (~3.75%), leaving roughly 23.1 GB free. Low utilization, low VRAM use and low temperatures show substantial headroom for RTX4090 Minecraft in this vanilla test.
| Metric | Recorded Value |
|---|---|
| GPU Utilization (Task Manager) | ~11% |
| GPU Utilization (Minecraft overlay) | ~17–20% |
| GPU Temperature | ~31–32°C |
| Minecraft FPS Range | ~452–548 FPS |

At the moment of capture the overlay showed ~352 FPS, a 2.4 ms frame time, ~21% GPU utilization at 32°C, ~5% CPU utilization at 26°C, ~14.3 GB RAM and ~979 MB GPU memory. With VSync off and an unlimited frame-rate limit, the system could produce as many frames as the workload allowed. Fancy graphics, full particles, entity shadows and 100% entity distance make this a representative workload rather than an extremely low-graphics setup.

Test 2: RTX 4090 Minecraft Shaders (Complementary Reimagined High, Java Edition 1.20.1)
The first modded capture shows RTX4090 Minecraft running Complementary Reimagined Shaders at High settings, with the player above a large forest and river. The shader workload adds lighting, dynamic shadows, atmospheric effects, water appearance and detailed terrain, making it far more demanding than vanilla. Minecraft held approximately 67 FPS at a 13.5 ms frame time.
| Metric | Minecraft Overlay | Task Manager |
|---|---|---|
| FPS | 67 FPS | N/A |
| Frame Time | 13.5 ms | N/A |
| GPU Utilization | 24% | 30% |
| GPU Temperature | 35°C | 35°C |
| CPU Utilization | 5% | 27% |
| CPU Temperature | 31°C | N/A |
| CPU Speed | N/A | 2.94 GHz |
| Minecraft RAM Usage | 17,517 MB | N/A |
| GPU Memory | 3,088 MB | N/A |
| System Memory Usage | N/A | 20 / 256 GB (~8%) |

Test 3: RTX 4090 Minecraft Distant Horizons High Render Distance and LODs
The second capture shows RTX4090 Minecraft in the modded configuration (Embeddium + Distant Horizons + shaders) with extended terrain rendering. Distant Horizons uses Level of Detail (LOD) terrain for distant areas, so forests, mountains and rivers stay visible far beyond a conventional 16-chunk view without rendering every region at full detail. Minecraft maintained approximately 87 FPS at a 10.9 ms frame time.
| Metric | Minecraft Overlay | Task Manager |
|---|---|---|
| FPS | 87 FPS | N/A |
| Frame Time | 10.9 ms | N/A |
| GPU Utilization | 13% | 30% |
| GPU Temperature | 32°C | 32°C |
| CPU Utilization | 33% | 53% |
| CPU Temperature | 35°C | N/A |
| CPU Speed | N/A | 2.77 GHz |
| Minecraft RAM Usage | 20,252 MB | N/A |
| GPU Memory | 2,888 MB | N/A |
| System Memory Usage | N/A | 20 / 256 GB (~8%) |

Combined Shader + LOD Result
Across the modded captures, RTX4090 Minecraft maintained approximately 67–87 FPS depending on the workload and scene. Minecraft reported ~13–24% GPU utilization and Task Manager ~30%; GPU temperature stayed at ~32–35°C with ~2.9–3.1 GB of GPU memory. System memory rose to ~17.5–20.3 GB, and CPU utilization varied from ~5–33% (overlay) to ~27–53% (Task Manager). The configuration handled both high-quality shader rendering and extended LOD terrain while maintaining playable-to-high frame rates and very low temperatures.
Test 4: RTX 4090 Minecraft 5,000+ TNT Explosion Stress Test
This intensive RTX4090 Minecraft test places far more pressure on the system than standard gameplay. A detonation of more than 5,000 TNT blocks forces Minecraft to process thousands of simultaneous explosion events, block destruction and updates, explosion physics, particle effects, entity updates, terrain modifications and rendering of the resulting destruction, while still generating frames continuously.
| Metric | Recorded Value |
|---|---|
| Minecraft Version | Java Edition 1.20.1 |
| TNT Count | 5,000+ |
| Minecraft FPS | ~158 FPS |
| Frame Time | ~5.4 ms |
| GPU Temperature | ~31°C |
| CPU Temperature | ~26°C |
| GPU Utilization (Task Manager) | ~17% |
| GPU Utilization (Minecraft overlay) | ~9% |
| GPU Memory | ~991 MB |
| RAM Usage | ~14,672 MB |
| CPU Utilization (Task Manager) | ~6% |
| CPU Speed (Task Manager) | ~3.06 GHz |
Despite the extremely large explosion, the RTX 4090 stayed at about 31°C and overall CPU utilization remained low, so the dual Xeon system kept substantial total headroom, although Minecraft's workload is not necessarily distributed evenly across all logical processors. With 256 GB of memory, the ~14.7 GB used leaves room for large worlds, mods and creator tools. Because TNT results depend on timing, explosion density and world conditions, the captured 158 FPS is an observed result, not a guaranteed minimum for every 5,000+ TNT scenario.

Test 5: RTX 4090 Minecraft World and Chunk Loading
The final vanilla-side capture focuses on world and chunk loading while Minecraft processed a newly encountered area. Exploration and world loading can raise CPU and system-resource activity as the game loads world data while keeping the active environment running. Minecraft showed the "Loading terrain..." screen, and the world loaded in approximately 4–5 seconds.
| Metric | Minecraft Overlay | Task Manager |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft Version | Forge 26.3 (as shown in the capture) | N/A |
| FPS | 59 FPS | N/A |
| Frame Time | 37.9 ms | N/A |
| GPU Utilization | 5% | 34% |
| GPU Temperature | 31°C | 31°C |
| CPU Utilization | 12% | 7% |
| CPU Temperature | 29°C | N/A |
| CPU Speed | N/A | 2.85 GHz |
| Minecraft RAM Usage | 14,748 MB | N/A |
| GPU Memory | 1,057 MB | N/A |
| System Memory Usage | N/A | 14 / 256 GB (6%) |
The 59 FPS reading was captured during the active loading state, so it should not be read as normal RTX 4090 Minecraft gameplay FPS. The short 4–5 second load, low GPU temperature, low CPU utilization and ample free memory point to strong responsiveness in this scenario. This test complements the vanilla and TNT tests by showing how the system behaves while Minecraft is preparing world data.

RTX 4090 Minecraft VRAM, 256 GB RAM and Creator Workloads
One major advantage of this RTX 4090 Minecraft configuration is its 24 GB of dedicated GPU memory. Captured usage stayed well below capacity: ~0.9–1.0 GB in vanilla, ~1.0 GB in the 5,000+ TNT test, ~3.1 GB with Complementary Reimagined High and ~2.9 GB in the Distant Horizons test. That leaves substantial VRAM headroom for higher-resolution textures, shaders, mods and large render distances, although actual requirements vary with shader settings, resource packs, resolution and scene complexity.
The 256 GB of system RAM also provided far more capacity than the captured Minecraft workloads required: ~14 GB in vanilla and ~20 GB in modded testing. Users can run RTX4090 Minecraft alongside OBS Studio, Discord, web browsers, recording software, launchers, monitoring tools, video-editing software and other creator applications.
| Workload | What it showed |
|---|---|
| Vanilla Minecraft | Extremely high captured FPS with relatively low GPU utilization |
| 5,000+ TNT | High FPS during a concentrated explosion and block-processing workload |
| World / Chunk Loading | Short ~4–5 second loading period with temporary performance changes |
| Complementary Reimagined | Higher graphical complexity with ~67 FPS captured |
| Distant Horizons / LOD | Large visible terrain distances with ~87 FPS captured |
This is why RTX 4090 Minecraft performance should not be judged by GPU specifications alone: workload-specific testing is more useful than a single FPS number.

Reliability Evaluation
The RTX 4090 Minecraft system remained stable throughout testing, with no crashes or major stability issues. The Windows environment was tested in its stock state to evaluate the machine as provided rather than tuned for benchmark results. Occasional network interruptions may occur during remote access depending on the connection path and local internet, and should be considered separately from hardware performance. Windows Remote Desktop (RDP) was useful for setup and general remote work but less suitable for interactive gaming, so I used Parsec for actual RTX4090 Minecraft gameplay.
Notes and Troubleshooting
No major software issue prevented normal Minecraft use. For best compatibility, keep Windows, NVIDIA drivers, Minecraft, mods, loaders and shaders matched to the Minecraft version being tested. Performance may vary with Minecraft version, world seed, render and simulation distance, shader configuration, resource packs, mods, resolution, background applications, recording / streaming settings and remote connection quality.
RTX 4090 Minecraft Recommendations
Vanilla Minecraft
The RTX 4090 provides far more graphical capacity than the vanilla workload needs, reaching ~548 FPS with several captures above 450 FPS. Actual FPS depends on render distance, simulation distance, CPU workload, world complexity, resolution, background applications and Minecraft version.
Intensive Workloads
For large TNT explosions and similar scenarios, performance depends on the number of active events, entities, block updates and particles. The 5,000+ TNT test held ~158 FPS on this RTX 4090 Minecraft server.
World and Chunk Loading
For exploration, CPU-side world processing matters more. The world loaded in ~4–5 seconds with ~59 FPS during the loading state, showing that Minecraft can have temporary performance changes during active world processing even on capable hardware.
Shader Minecraft
The 24 GB of VRAM gives RTX4090 Minecraft shader setups plenty of room: ~67 FPS and ~3.1 GB with Complementary Reimagined High, and ~87 FPS and ~2.9 GB in the Distant Horizons test. More demanding presets, higher resolutions and resource packs can produce different results.
Creator Workloads
The 256 GB RAM configuration is particularly useful for multitasking with OBS, Discord, browsers, editing software and recording tools alongside RTX 4090 Minecraft.

RTX 4090 Minecraft FAQ
How many FPS does the RTX 4090 get in vanilla Minecraft?
In the RTX 4090 Minecraft vanilla test (Java Edition 26.3, 1920 × 1080, 16-chunk render distance, 12-chunk simulation distance), captured FPS ranged from about 352 to 548, with individual captures at 452, 475, 526 and 548 FPS. These are captured observations, not formal averages or 1% lows.
Can the RTX 4090 run Minecraft shaders and Distant Horizons?
Yes. On Java Edition 1.20.1, Complementary Reimagined at High settings captured about 67 FPS (13.5 ms), and Embeddium + Distant Horizons with shaders captured about 87 FPS (10.9 ms). GPU temperature stayed around 32–35°C and GPU memory use was about 2.9–3.1 GB of the 24 GB available.
How does the RTX 4090 handle a 5,000+ TNT explosion?
The captured 5,000+ TNT test held about 158 FPS with a 5.4 ms frame time, a 31°C GPU and about 991 MB of GPU memory. Because TNT results depend on timing and explosion density, treat 158 FPS as an observed result, not a guaranteed minimum.
How fast does a Minecraft world load on this server?
The observed world load took approximately 4–5 seconds. The ~59 FPS reading was captured during the active loading state, so it does not represent normal gameplay FPS.
How much VRAM and RAM does Minecraft use on the RTX 4090 server?
Captured GPU memory ranged from about 0.9 GB in vanilla to about 3.1 GB with shaders, against 24 GB of dedicated VRAM. System RAM use was about 14 GB in vanilla and 17.5–20.3 GB in the modded tests, out of 256 GB.
Is the 254.8 ms Parsec latency the in-game ping?
No. It is the latency of the Parsec remote streaming connection measured from Pakistan to a US server region, not the Minecraft in-game ping. RDP with ExitLag measured about 203 ms, and ExitLag was not required to play Minecraft. Users closer to the server region can expect significantly lower latency.
Is this server suitable for Minecraft server hosting and creator workloads?
The tests showed substantial GPU, VRAM and memory headroom, which suits running Minecraft alongside OBS Studio, Discord, browsers and recording software. These are reference measurements for the tested setup. See our Minecraft dedicated servers and pricing for available options.
